Pantai Parangtritis (Parangtritis beach) is the most attractive beaches in
Yogyakarta province. Not only its natural view, sea-wave, sand sea, until
enjoying sunset that very wonderfull scenery but legenda and myth, linked to
Mount Merapi inside north of Yoykarta, Sultan palace or keraton in Yogyakarta
city as center, and Parangtritis itself and Ratu Kidul (Queen South), myth
goddess who rule southrn sea of Java.
There exists a folklore related
Parangtritis beach's myth and supranatural. The folklore warns vistors to never
wear the colour green or perhaps the Queen will entice the wearer in the sea
till drown because green colour is Queen's favorite colour. Parangtritis beach
lies arround 27 kilometers to south from central city.
Parangtritis beach might
be reach by public or private transport. There's 2 routes to acquire there,
Yogyakarta-Parangtritis or Yogyakarta-Imogiri-Siluk-Parangtritis more and more
challenging than a different one with the river and coral reef scenery along the
way. Just walk or hired a horse-cart (called bendi in local term) to enjoy
Parangtritis beach's beautifull scenery.
Parangtritis's name believed created
from parang (stone) and tumaritis (water drop), its dating back to Majapahit
kingdom periods. Legend tells hundreds in the past, Dipokusumo, a fugitive from
Majapahit found this place to meditate. When he saw water dripping in the crack
from the coral reef, he named el born area 'parangtritis', via your message
parang (stone) and tumaritis (water drops).
The beach close to the area was then
named identical. Nearby the beach is gua Langse or Langse cave that offering
another view and experience from Parangtritis beach. About the earth road
bringing about the cave, you'll be able to look westwards to view Parangtritis
from different angle. The high waves rushing to the shore will look silvery till
golden at sunset.
