Merapi volcano is located 40 kilometer north of Yogyakarta and included one of the most active volcano in the world. It erupts on average every 5-10 years and is feared for its deadly pyroclastic flows - avalanches of hot rocks and gas that are generated when parts of new lava domes constructed during eruptions in the summit crater collapse and slide down the mountain's steepflanks. The local people call this pyroclastic flows in Javanese Wedus Gembel (Wedus – a sheep; gembel – thick curly hair), as it looked like.

The availability of some traditional foods in yogyakarta plays an important role for attracting the tourism.Gudeg,geplak, yangko, bakpia are alredy well known  for the foreigners, but other traditional foods are available and one of them is kipo.Kipo is traditional food which comes from Kotagede-region in Yogyakarta.It is believe that kipo has alredy exist from the time of ancient Mataram kingdom until now. At that time kipo was served as snack foods for the king and His  family, so kipo was an exclusive food and could predict the level of family who consumed it.

Geplak is a  sweet snack  made by combining equal parts of sugar and coarsely  grated coconut, with the coco-piquant sweet taste of the dish being the major attractive feature.Normally citrus leaves, waluh fruit, and rice flour are also added to the sweet.in equal amounts, Geplak often colored brightly.this snack is mainly produced in Bantul Regency ( Region of Yogyakarta).
